Elaine's DREAM was to become a famous actress on Broadway, in New York City.
During Elaine's teenage years she was determined to finish High school and her acting classes. She was an active participant in her High school Drama Dept. After High School she performed at a theater on the University of Minnesota campus. From her describing the experience to me, she had won a full scholarship to go to New York as a Summer Intern for an "off-Broadway" theater production company. When Elaine told her Parents about the scholarship her Father forbade this from happening. "...good girls" don't go to New York to do what you want to do...", her Father vehemently exclaimed. Her DREAMS were torn apart and thrown away by her extremely old-fashioned '3rd' world father... but not destroyed.
